Tom on the other hand was staring down at his poor, shoeless, sock-covered feet, curling his toes with every careful step. I felt really bad, and thought about offering to trade the shoes for the jacket or try to carry him or something. But instead I just wrapped my arm around him and let him lean against me a little. His upper half was warm, it felt better to be pressed against it.
Ace 1I love him, I’d do anything for him. I wish I could tell him that, wish I could tell him how much he means to me and know that he really heard it. We spend hours playing in the back yard when it’s nice out, he’ll throw the Frisbee, and I’ll catch it. Sometimes if it’s warm enough I’ll chase him around in circles spraying him with water from the hose. But Mom doesn’t like that because sometimes I get excited and bite down too hard and leave holes in the tube. After that I lay my head in his lap while Mom scolds him for using the hose the way he did. He pets my ears and I nuzzle his stomach and we’re bothAce 1
